tenerife – day 2
So we picked up our hire car at Tenerife South airport. Hiring a car abroad can be a bit of a lottery. Hiring a car in The Canaries can be challenging too. It’s almost as if they limit the engine size. Our’s struggles with hills in second gear, and it takes a while to get above 50mph. Gear change is a bit testing too. Now this may be down to me and the fact I’ve driven electric for the past three years. Driving a left hand drive petrol car is not for me.

We decided to drive to Golf del Sur for lunch. It’s a twenty minute drive (thirty minutes in a Fiat Panda). We take the road that runs parallel to the TF1 motorway, so we’re treated to lots and lots of roundabouts. We find a place to park and make our way down to the coastal path.

I’m not sure what I was expecting from Golf del Sur, but I was disappointed. It’s quiet, dead almost. There are plenty of apartment blocks and what I assume can only be all-inclusive hotels, as nobody seems too venture out. If you play golf, or even lawn bowls it’s maybe an ideal location; it left me flat I’m afraid.
